WAICU Resources for Navigating Current Regulatory Challenges
Changes in governmental policies impact every area of college campuses. WAICU has a variety of upcoming events and resources available to support members through these times.
- Engage, Learn, Connect: Group discounts have just been released for the 10th annual Wisconsin Higher Education Summit. Registration has been extended nationwide to public, private, technical, and tribal colleges due to the high need for this content and collaborative opportunity. Registration may fill up quickly, so don’t delay! The Summit will be held May 28-30, 2025, at the Memorial Union in Madison.
- Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA): the timeline for implementation began on January 1, 2025, when institutions were to begin collecting hazing statistics to include in the annual security report. By June 23, 2025, hazing policies must be in place. WAICU and our vendor partners have multiple options for training to meet your needs.
- Grand River Solutions is offering an in-person training at MSOE on June 3. HERE is more information and the link to register.
- Our online training partners at Catharsis and Vector Solutions have SCHA offerings available. Go HERE to find out more.
- Christine Taylor from our legal partner Husch Blackwell will be presenting on SCHA and the other regulatory changes at the Higher Education Summit. New group discounts for three or more attendees have just been released!
- Sean Somermeyer from Ballast is willing to meet with WAICU members. To schedule virtual support for your school, contact hello@weareballast.com. WAICU and Ballast may organize a cost-share for this if six or more schools are interested. Please contact shawn.robin@waicu.org if interested.
- Compliance audit and legal counsel: WAICU partners with Husch Blackwell to provide compliance auditing for members at three levels of participation, as well as discounted rates for other legal services. Husch Blackwell advises clients on civil rights issues, technology, employment, land use transactions, student affairs, and myriad other issues. Based on their thorough understanding of each institution’s unique culture and operations, they recommend actions that advance each client’s goals. Husch Blackwell also serves as primary outside counsel and first point of legal contact for many educational institutions. They regularly advise colleges and universities on student affairs, collegiate athletics, and NCAA compliance, Title IX, Title IV, labor and employment matters, and corporate transactions.
