Kicking Off the Nonprofit Internship Program

Interns and representative from hosting nonprofits met recently at Marian University for the WAICU Internship Institute to officially launch the 2025 Nonprofit Internship Program.

The spirit of collaboration and service was alive and well at Marian University on April 25, when WAICU held its annual Internship Institute to officially launch the 2025 Nonprofit Internship Program.

Gathering in Marian’s welcoming facilities, a dynamic group of full-time undergraduate interns from WAICU-member schools joined their nonprofit mentors to chart the course for a meaningful summer ahead.

The day began with remarks from Marian University President Aaron Sadoff and WAICU President Eric W. Fulcomer, who emphasized the importance of experiential learning, community engagement, and the powerful impact these partnerships can have—both for students and for the nonprofits they will serve.

Throughout the day, interns and their host mentors collaborated closely to set goals, discussed expectations, and designed their summer projects. In addition to these planning sessions, participating nonprofits shared insights into the vital work they are doing across Wisconsin, offering students a deeper understanding of the causes they will support and the communities they will help strengthen.

The Internship Institute served as a kickoff event and as an inspiring reminder of the value of hands-on learning, civic responsibility, and the unique role independent higher education plays in preparing students for leadership and service.

We are excited to see the incredible contributions these students and nonprofits will achieve together over the summer.
