Marian, Viterbo University Presidents Attend Madison Advocacy Day

President Eric W. Fulcomer, center, along with Executive Vice President for External Relations Rebecca Larson, visited the Capitol recently with Marian University President Aaron Sadoff, right, and Viterbo University President Rick Trietley, to speak with legislators on behalf of Wisconsin’s Private Colleges. “We had a full day at the Wisconsin Capitol,” said President Fulcomer. “In all, we visited six legislative offices and the Governor’s Office. We talked about the importance of the Wisconsin Grant Program to our students and our budget request to double the appropriation. We also talked about the significant impact our institutions have on Wisconsin’s workforce, particularly in terms of healthcare and teacher education, and the importance of veterans programs for our students. Both university presidents are Army veterans.”
Marian University President Aaron Sadoff and Viterbo University President Rick Trietley traveled to Madison recently to meet with legislators at the Wisconsin State Capitol, along with WAICU President Eric W. Fulcomer and WAICU Senior Vice President for External Relations Rebecca Larson.
The group met with five representatives, one senator, and the governor’s office staff to discuss key grants and programs crucial to the Wisconsin’s Private Colleges mission, expanding educational access. Proposals include our request to double the Wisconsin Grant Program from the current $57 million to $114 million in support of low-income students at our private, nonprofit institutions.
They also highlighted the importance of funds like the Wisconsin Veterans Grant for Private, Nonprofit Students. Both President Sadoff and President Trietley are Army veterans. The WAICU contingency also addressed the statewide teacher shortage, encouraging elected officials to support student teaching stipends, and discussed expanding the Wisconsin Nurse Educator Program. They also shared information about dual enrollment policy for high school students.
