Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities Announces Partnership with Core Education

Madison, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) has signed an agreement with Core Education, a public benefit corporation with a mission to transform the business model of small and mid-sized colleges and universities. The agreement with Core will allow WAICU and its 22-member institutions to leverage economies of scale to improve revenue, technology, and operating effectiveness.

“WAICU has a successful history of creating innovative, collaborative programs for our 22-member institutions,” said WAICU President Eric W. Fulcomer, PhD. “We needed to find the right platform to empower our institutions to work independently yet take advantage of the economies of scale that larger institutions enjoy. Our operating agreement with Core provides us with an opportunity for our members to significantly impact their overall financial health.”

“The operating partnership with Core is an important strategic initiative,” said WAICU Board Chair and Medical College of Wisconsin President and CEO John R. Raymond, Sr., MD. “WAICU’s agreement with Core creates a unique platform of services and resources that otherwise would not be available to our institutions.”

“Business model transformation requires innovation and creativity,” said Core Education Executive Chairman Rick Beyer. “With our economies of scale and providing access to subject matter experts and resources that would otherwise be inaccessible, members of WAICU will have an operating partner who understands what it takes to transform the financial model of higher education.”

The agreement allows WAICU institutions to enhance their business models through a unique operating partnership. Core’s supporting services include growth and cost alignment strategies, expanded campus technology, enrollment and marketing, workflow optimization, institutional research, financial planning and modeling, capital strategies, academic programming services, and compliance support services.
