Some restrictions apply for WAICU Affiliate Members: this program may not be available in all states or for all clients.
Participating colleges in the WAICU Property & Casualty Insurance Program enjoy significant savings and improved insurance coverage through our collaborative packages. These comprehensive offerings include property, automobile, general liability, liquor liability, professional liability, crime, cyber, special risk, boiler, and inland marine coverage.
Why join the group?
- Best Practice: This partnership among institutions promotes the exchange of best practices in compliance and risk management, keeping members informed about the ever-changing landscape of educational risks.
- Savings: Leveraging scale and expert advice, the group premium has reached a level that enables the distribution of dividends for workers’ compensation coverage, in addition to the premium savings already realized.
- Administrative and Strategic Support: Our members typically wear many hats, relying on the WAICU Property & Casualty Insurance Program to support their everyday needs. Keeping Audit Committees and Boards apprised of evolving risks and market conditions has been a key differentiator in our partnership.
- Dedicated Claims Advocacy: Our members benefit from dedicated claims advocacy services, particularly in navigating property damage issues arising from convective storms, frozen burst pipes, and water damage. Furthermore, we provide access to specialized claims resources, including expertise in concussion litigation for athletics dating back to 1952, as well as forensic accounting consulting services to support crime claims. This ensures that perpetrators are brought to justice, and reimbursement is coordinated through our crime insurance coverage.

For members interested in “kicking the tires,” please reach out to Jennifer deHart (jenniferdehart@waicuorg). We typically ask for a Broker of Record (BOR) letter to gain access to our carrier program partners, allowing us to include your institution in the submission process. Our renewal date is July 1st, and you will have the opportunity to review the quotes. If the offerings are compelling, you can join the program through our broker partner. There is no direct cost to receive a renewal quote through the program.
