Wisconsin’s Private Colleges are vital contributors to the state’s economic vitality. Our private colleges and universities have profound, deep-rooted impacts, including:
- $5.4 billion in economic impact in academic year 2024-2025
- 39,200 jobs generated and supported
- $788 million contributed in federal, state, and local tax revenue
- 12,300 degrees awarded annually
- 236,000 alumni living and working in Wisconsin

WAICU’s Case Statement – WAICUPEDIA 2026
This annual publication highlights the contributions of private, nonprofit higher education in Wisconsin. WAICUPEDIA includes summaries and infographics of important sector-level data such as affordability, return on investment for the state and for students, student services, collaboration, Wisconsin Grant/financial aid, and degree productivity.
