Spotlight on Pamela Seelman
This month’s WAICU Spotlight is on Pamela Seelman, director of marketing communications, who has been with WAICU since July 2022.
In her role, she leads the production of key communications including the monthly WAICU WISE newsletter, the Wisconsin Grant Program Achievers, and the quarterly Wisconsin Independent, which reaches more than 8,000 readers passionate about higher education.
Pamela collaborates with Madison-based agency KW2 to drive the second year of a statewide outreach campaign aimed at reshaping perceptions of Wisconsin’s private colleges among high school students. She also recently launched a new initiative to spotlight alumni success stories weekly on social media—amplifying the real-world impact of a private college education in Wisconsin.
Her work extends across multiple platforms, from managing WAICU’s social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, to ensuring the organization’s website remains current and compelling. She also plays a key role in producing WAICUPEDIA and fall outreach materials for high school counselors.
Among her recent accomplishments, Pamela is especially proud of two major projects:
- Consolidating four websites into one streamlined portal which helps students “Find Their Fit” among Wisconsin’s private colleges, and details WAICU resources for members.
- Transitioning the quarterly newsletter to a digital format, enabling better engagement tracking, easier subscriber management, and cost savings that support other strategic initiatives.
Pamela’s passion for her work is deeply personal. As a first-generation college student raised by a single mother in a low-income household, she knows firsthand how transformative higher education can be. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance and support of others who helped me understand how I could afford college through scholarships, grants, and financial aid,” she shares. “At WAICU, I’m living my passion—helping others change the trajectory of their lives through higher education.”
Pamela received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is a proud Marquette University graduate, where she earned a Master of Arts in Communications. Outside of work, she enjoys biking the Drumlin Trail with friends, exploring Wisconsin’s scenic backroads, and spending time with her family including two lively Labradors, Greta and Keely.
