Bellin College Hosted Their 24th Annual Golf Classic this Past Summer

A Bellin College student works with the new virtual reality system made possible by funds raised at the 24th Annual Golf Classic held this summer.
This past summer, thirty-seven teams, consisting of Green Bay community members, local business and community partners, and Bellin College staff members gathered for a day of community, charity, and golf.
Every year, Bellin College’s Golf Classic raises funds that will directly impact the college and its students. This year, the proceeds were used to support the purchase of virtual reality equipment for the Health Science Resource Center at Bellin Resch Campus.
The Health Science Resource Center at Bellin College is a major part of the college’s premier education. Located in the lower level of the Resch Campus, the Center provides students the space to participate in extensive hands-on and interprofessional learning opportunities using the latest healthcare technology to simulate a hospital and clinical setting.
Examples of these settings include a surgery suite, birthing suite, clinic exams rooms, emergency/intensive care suites, and more. In these suites, students mainly use equipment such as high-fidelity manikin simulators, 3D Anatomy tables, X-Ray Machines, and ultrasound machines, and more. This equipment is important to a Bellin College education because the students are using the same equipment they will be operating in their future careers, giving them a leg up in the field.
The virtual reality system and the program Acadicus extend these educational opportunities and provides a virtual space for teaching high-level skills in a low-risk environment. Students from all programs at Bellin College now can be immersed in countless real-world clinical scenarios to improve their critical thinking skills before entering the healthcare field.
Through golf teams’ registration, donations, and a live auction of local products and experiences, the Golf Classic raised nearly $60,000 to enhance the educational experience of the students of Bellin College.
