Nonprofit Internship Program Kicks off with Zoo Event
Interns and mentors participating in the WAICU Nonprofit Internship Program gathered at the Milwaukee County Zoo, Peck Welcome Center on April 26, 2023, for a day of learning and celebration to kick off this year’s summer internship season.
Dr. Eric Fulcomer welcomed interns and mentors to the event and spoke about the valuable learning that takes place for the interns that participate in this program and the important service they are providing to the nonprofit internship sites. Participants spent time throughout the day learning about the work that the individual nonprofits are doing, going over the expectations and requirements of the program, and intern and mentor groups were given time to meet outside of a busy workday to cover details of their placements and to set goals together.
The Nonprofit Internship Program is open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled at WAICU member colleges and universities. Selected interns receive a $4,000 stipend and a $6,000 scholarship in exchange for 400 hours of work over ten weeks in the summer. Participating internship sites are in Jefferson, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, or Rock counties.
Congratulations to both the interns and the mentors for being selected for this competitive and rewarding program.
