WAICU hosts School Counselor Workshop at Carthage College

High school counselors shared information and met with Wisconsin private colleges admissions officers at Carthage College during the first of a series of three school counselor workshops presented by WAICU.

WAICU hosted the first School Counselor Workshop of the fall recently, overlooking Lake Michigan on the beautiful Carthage College campus.

Attendees included school counselors and other high school and middle school counseling professionals who heard from nineteen of Wisconsin’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities about exciting new programs, scholarship opportunities, and other unique offerings for students.

President John R. Swallow of Carthage College welcomed the group, and Vice President of Enrollment Ashley Hanson presented a financial aid update to counselors about what high school seniors could expect when completing the FAFSA for FY25-26.

Participants visited with admissions officers during breakout sessions that included roundtable discussions and two college fair style sessions, where counselors had printed materials and other resources on hand.

After lunch, attendees were invited to take a campus tour and learn more about the student experience at Carthage.

Two additional, free WAICU professional development opportunities for counselors will be held this fall on October 29 at Ripon College and November 13 virtually.
