WAICU Participates in WMC Civics Bee
WAICU participated as a judge in the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Foundation and U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Civics Bee championship.
This is the “first of its kind” event held in Wisconsin to encourage civics education. Eight finalists from around the state answered civics trivia questions and presented portions of essays submitted on their ideas for civics projects.
The competition is modeled on traditional spelling and geography bees, encouraging students to share ideas for improving their communities and show their enthusiasm for civics. Earlier in the year, students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades were invited to compete in regional bees, hosted by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, the Racine Area Manufacturers & Commerce, and the Wausau Chamber of Commerce.
WAICU was a proud partner of this civics engagement event, which is one example of our strong partnership with Wisconsin Manufactures and Commerce, and a growing partnership with regional chambers of commerce throughout the state.
